Explore the power of music and art in healing addiction.

The REID Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the healing power of music and creative expression to those facing life challenges. It was founded in 2019 by Rex Elsass in memory of his late son Reid Elsass who lost his battle with addiction but survives on through his love of music and arts.

  • Rex Elsass - Founder of The REID Foundation Elsass, Founder.  He is also the Chairman of The Strategy Group Co. who lost his son Reid Elsass to addiction on June 2, 2019. Reid’s love of music and creative expression sparked the Foundation’s movement to create innovative and life-changing programs to scale worldwide. Rex serves on the board of directors for Ashland University, Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Broadcast Education Media Commission (BEMC).
  • Sharon Shrieber: Sharon is an event architect creating awe-inducing experientials that weave together the heart, soul and strategy for organizations. As founder of BrandWeavers for Health, an integrated fundraising, branding, communications consultancy, and Healthy-TXT, a digital engagement platform to improve health and wellness, Sharon excels in designing strategies that positively impact the lives of others. She serves as a strategist and fundraising consultant for the REID Foundation, as well as a strategic advisor to The Goodness Tour. Her work with UCLA Medicine and L.A. Care was published in Pediatrics Journal and featured at the Cleveland Clinic’s Patient Empathy and Innovation Summit. Brandweaversrx.com | Healthy-TXT.com
  • Dr. Cheralyn Leeby is a holistic psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in Trauma Resolution, Parent Education, Addiction, Grief Recovery, Art Therapy and Mindfulness. She is an accomplished speaker, International Best Selling author, retreat leader, teacher, trauma specialist, art and play therapist. Dr. Leeby created Soul Life as a platform for community prevention and wellness education (www.soullife.us). Dr. Leeby's newest book and movement, Artichoke Alchemy™: A Journey to the Heart, based on 10 years of experience, launches in 2022.
  • Erin Spring is the founder of Central Ohio Music Therapy (COMT) and a board certified music therapist, earning her bachelors and masters degrees from Ohio University and completing her clinical internship with the Cleveland Music Settlement and Cleveland Clinic. As part of her work with the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), Erin helped develop the AMTA Music Listening Guidelines, to support the safe and effective application of music listening for everyone. Erin serves as an Ohio University adjunct professor and clinical supervisor and co-chair of the Ohio Music Therapy Task Force. She continues her work to empower others through music by collaborating with the REID Foundation and other community organizations.
  • Shiah Luna is a Native Mexican American Singer, Songwriter, and Actress in Los  Angeles, California. Shiah feels deeply called to create music that connects and allows her to give back. Her journey’s genesis began in Uganda, Africa in 2011 where “Together We Are Strong” was born; bridging two communities - one in Shiah’s hometown in central California and one in the heart of Africa. With Plant A Seed Foundation and Greater Purpose, Shiah taught music classes, built a sustainable chicken farm and water wells, and shared many life changing memories which she carries forward today by introducing the arts and entertainment fields to at-risk youth in Los Angeles.
  • Mark Rhoads is an accomplished musician, songwriter, performer and program facilitator. His early work was in the bands Mescalito, Jamnesia, and New Pollution, the latter recording the album “Waiting for the Bus” and making the top 5 for best soul artists in Columbus.   He has now put his great skill at connecting with people through word and music to work as a therapeutic music program through Central Ohio Music Therapy facilitating music programming for the REID Foundation.
  • William Close:The Earth Harp earned William Close a finalist slot on the TV show America’s Got Talent and was recently named by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s longest playable stringed musical instrument. William studied sculpture and sound design at the Art Institute of Chicago and his work explores the connection between architecture and music. Inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright quote “architecture is frozen music”, Close creates musical installations that use the architecture as part of the instrument. The Earth Harp has been installed in some of the most iconic destinations in the world such as The Coliseum in Rome, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center , The Seattle Space Needle and temples of Vietnam.
  • Benjamin Swatez is an American born international artist, currently pursuing his doctorate degree, who has exhibited in over 80 international art exhibitions on four continents, in both museums and professional galleries. He has directed creative therapy projects and community murals for over a decade all over the world. At the forefront of peacebuilding and conflict resolution through art, he first listens to each community and sculpts the activities according to the needs, interests and conflict of each unique location. Ben is co-founder of the Goodness Tour: Taking music and art to where it cannot be paid for; live concerts with paint for people facing adversity.
  • Luc Reynaud is an international musician-singer-songwriter, producer, humanitarian and public speaker. While a hurricane Katrina Red Cross Volunteer, Luc’s co-wrote  “The Freedom Song” with youth sheltering in Louisiana which was covered by Jason Mraz and a TED talk subject ( “To Open Your World, Trust Your Intuition”). Seeing first-hand the powerful and positive effects creativity had on humans moving through trauma, Luc founded the band Luc and the Lovingtons, and co-founded The Goodness Tour, the latter working where needed around the world, including with Syrian youth refugees, resulting in the international music video “Welcome to My House” showcasing love and hospitality across cultures.
  • Dr. Rob Graessle is the founder and CEO of an addiction treatment facility called Basecamp Recovery Center. Prior to this, Dr. Graessle served as an emergency medicine physician at Grant Medical Center, an inner-city trauma hospital in Columbus, OH. That experience, as well as growing up in a neighborhood hard hit by the opiate crisis has shaped his personal mission. Dr. Graessle’s primary goal with Basecamp Recovery Center is to give back to his home community and help repair damage left in the wake of the opiate crisis. This has evolved into an unyielding passion to end stigma and advocate for all people everywhere who are struggling with the brain disease of addiction.
