Democracy in the United States is under direct and sustained assault by Donald Trump, the Republican Party and the extreme Right. The upcoming midterm elections in November are a critical test and will determine whether the democratic institutions that have under-girded the nation will long survive.
Week of Democracy Dialogues - April 25-29
A growing number of Americans are coming to understand that we are currently facing the most existential threat to our democracy and to our way of life in the nation’s 246 year history. If We the People do not address this threat in a timely and effective way, it will not only endanger American democracy but seriously impact the well-being of humanity, of the other species who reside on this planet and of our precious habitat itself.
The Democracy Dialogues have been created to bring together leading voices of our time – authors, experts and activists from a number of interrelated disciplines who speak to this threat and through individual interviews and participation in-depth, meaningful group dialogues, explore a range of possible solutions that can be executed by organizations as well as individuals in this critical 7 months leading up to Midterm Elections in November.
The series is convened and hosted by George Cappannelli and John Steiner and Margo King.

Steven Olikara, Candidate For The US Senate From Wisconsin
Steven is the founder and former CEO of the Millennial Action Project (MAP), a multi-million dollar national organization launched a decade ago to train young elected officials at the state and congressional levels to build diverse coalitions for real change. MAP's coalitions have passed forward-thinking legislation that lifts up communities often left out of politics — from voting and criminal justice reforms to entrepreneurship and clean energy.
Steven Olikara is a candidate for the US Senate in Wisconsin. A proud Wisconsinite, the son of Indian immigrants, an entrepreneur, and a nonprofit leader. He attended Wisconsin public schools and graduated as a University of Wisconsin Badger.
The Millennial Action Project has an audacious mission: activate young leaders to bridge the partisan divide and transform American politics. We envision s diverse democracy where the political culture is grounded in empathy and leaders pursue innovative policy solutions. MAP includes leaders, teammates, and explorers.
