For democracy to be really effective you need a well informed public and a public who can think beyond its front yard and who actually go out and cast their vote. whenever there is less then 80% of voters casing votes you have a situation like the one that's in place.

And the ruling class has decided (at least a significant faction) that Naomi Klein is right about climate change in that This Changes Everything. So this faction of rulers is looking forward to mass death events so they can keep their power. Especially mass deaths of “those people.”

It can be very serious for us and for the most part is not recognized as a problem anymore. This was the situation of the southern ozone hole a couple of days ago. The size of it fluctuates in size and location according to the time of the year. Thanks to this map I was able to determine that we had the most intense UV when the hole drifted over our part of Chilean Patagonia.
