Text of the Zoom Chat from HR Day 095:

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:01 AM) Happy Tuesday Everyone!

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (11:02 AM) Good Tuesday to ALL, From: the woods of North Carolina. Sabinije..thank you for your warm welcome!

From: Jude Asphar (11:04 AM) surely — and lAM)entably — the root cause of climate change is our human nature….no?

From: Wesley Chuang (11:05 AM) ^Thank you for a global warming welcome.

From: Kathleen Riley (11:05 AM) Good morning everyone!

From: Jim Garrison (11:06 AM) GREAT SESSION yesterday, Kathleen. Beautifully done.

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:06 AM) @Jim, yes, sometimes people need to hear it From: the government officials to pay attention.

From: Shannon McArthur (11:06 AM) Good morning All. Bless you all for engaging here with us… please remember to change the address for your comments here to include the attendees as well as the panelists. Blessings…

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:06 AM) @Kathleen Great to see you here!!!

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (11:09 AM) How about a new news progrAM)-like Humanity to go global on solutions for the public

From: Diane Skidmore (11:09 AM) @Jude - it's governments and corporations that are running the show at the moment. Human nature is basically good but we've never before realised that - we have the power!! We have People Power and we need to stand up and grab it. A recent book - Human Kindness (Rutger Bregman) tells of a better attitude re human nature and - as I say - it's never occurred to us that WE can make change collectively as well as individually. An AM)azing time. WE must grab it!! Can't wait for today's session. directions with a bit of luck (and great HR management)!!! xxx

From: Kurt Krueger (11:12 AM) CONSUMPTION is a is an old disease that killed. Modern CONSUMPTION has devastated our ecosystem AND society..

From: Diane Skidmore (11:12 AM) Gosh!! Peace. thank you xxx

From: Sharon Truax (11:12 AM) what a power surge! thank you all!

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (11:12 AM) Loved the music you selected Sabinije

From: Diane Skidmore (11:13 AM) @Kurt. Absolutely!! Bottom line. Most of us!!

From: Diane Skidmore (11:15 AM) In fact, will use this moment - if we all stopped consuming, governments and corporations would stand no chance - they'd be powerless!! Look at that little trickle of running water in the background <3

From: Shannon McArthur (11:16 AM) but life requires consumption - we have to learn to deal with all of this, including our emissions and refuse.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:17 AM) @Shannon. Yes - all connected!

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:21 AM) Can we get that link in the chat? Zero waste is also a bit solution

From: Kurt Krueger (11:23 AM) The Ounce is very powerful solution. So much less troublesome than TRYING to lift the pound of cure…

From: David Stoney (11:25 AM) Global warming has made the earth habitable. Today we have accomplished the greatest feat of geoengineering in human history: we have stopped the earth From: going into another glacial phase. YEA! But now we’re adding potentially catastrophic AM)ounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Either we change our ways or Gaia will do it for us… Me = David Stoney

From: Shannon McArthur (11:26 AM) Yes, David.

From: Shannon McArthur (11:26 AM) thank you. I agree. We know the problem. I want to hear the solution.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:26 AM) And we need to make changes really fast - we won't last till 2050!!!

From: Diane Skidmore (11:29 AM) Later (at the afterparty haha) I'll share info on the David Attenborough prog From: Sunday - not so much actual solutions as such but - the direction. Need to share it - so we can DO something xxx

From: david higgs (11:29 AM) first change is a one-term president.

From: David Stoney (11:30 AM) So, can we change the consciousness of the purveyors of business and politics as usual without massive peaceful protests? David Stoney

From: Diane Skidmore (11:31 AM) Or...….. By now - so urgent - we have to appeal to government and corporations to make massive changes. And yes - USA guy -...…….. no words. @david and @David - protest and actions all the way

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:32 AM) With the current weather patterns, indeed the wind turbines will be problematic and won't deliver as promised.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:32 AM) Suggest also appeal to some of the 1% who do have money and influence but who do understand!! Clooney, di Caprio, even (maybe) Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk

From: Diane Skidmore (11:33 AM) We can use all the suggestions made by Humanity Rising experts as 'way to go'

From: Kurt Krueger (11:33 AM) What does the melting of salt do to the ocean/environment, and all our relations in the ocean?

From: david higgs (11:34 AM) the salt that's melted doesn't come directly From: the ocean.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:35 AM) RE fossil fuel replacement - we consume too much!! We need to change our 'needs'.

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:37 AM) I think that it will boost the urgency of what we are dealing with, if we focus on what we can do/change/implement in the next 10 years, as if everything depends on this decade (which it does From: Shannon McArthur (11:38 AM) yes Liliane, I agree. I want to live in creating the solution not leave it to the next generation.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:38 AM) In the UK, 47% of electricity was produced by clean ways so far this year!! So - even baddie UK - is making changes!!

From: Shannon McArthur (11:39 AM) Bob Redwine, thank you for contributing valuable questions!

From: Diane Skidmore (11:40 AM) Thank you @Tom - "Not using is the best solution"!!!

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:40 AM) agriculture shifts - bio char and others might make a big contribution. I wonder if he has included that?

From: Diane Skidmore (11:41 AM) @Shannon - agree - Thank you Bob Redwine for brilliant questions!! (didn't like to say haha From: Liliane Mavridara (11:41 AM) @Shannon, with how fast ecological dAM)age is happening right now, even if I was to focus in US alone, between fires on the West and floods on the East, there won't be much to leave to next generation.

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:42 AM) I’d like to know more about that melting salt - were does the salt come From: , how much is needed, what happens after its melted…

From: Shannon McArthur (11:42 AM) exactly. The time is now to fix the mess we’ve made.

From: Diane Skidmore (11:43 AM) FAST!!! Now!!! Yes!!!

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (11:43 AM) What does it do to the soil using geoengineering?

From: Shannon McArthur (11:44 AM) FF powered planes! hahaha…

From: Diane Skidmore (11:44 AM) These solutions are a real worry!!

From: Shannon McArthur (11:44 AM) these are just exAM)ples of bad solutions. lead up to the main event...

From: David Stoney (11:46 AM) Thanks Tom and Bob for a fascinating and informative presentation. Sadly I must leave for another appointment. Also sadly, it looks to me that we humans and the rest of the world’s animals are in for a very hard time. Maybe that will be the initiation that propels us into a more mature consciousness. All the best, David Stoney…

From: Crystal (11:46 AM) If the sun is reflected, does the earth still receive the sun energy she needs?

From: Sabinije von Gaffke (11:46 AM) We had some questions on what IPCC means = Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

From: Mary Olson (11:46 AM) Albert Bates and Kathleen Draper wrote BURN: Using Fire to Cool the Earth (2018) --a form of carbon sequestration that reduces CO2 in Earth's atomosphere without the kind of "side effects" our speaker is referring to--which could be as devastating to LIFE as the heat itself...

From: Shannon McArthur (11:46 AM) only the part of the sun that hits the mirror is reflected

From: Jane (11:47 AM) RE: floating mirror fields and marine life not beign affected - what about the noise created From: these? THAT will affect marine life.

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:47 AM) How would it weather high waves?

From: Diane Skidmore (11:47 AM) OK. This sounds better. Bye David Stoney - maybe you can catch up later - there may be a better solution here!!

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (11:48 AM) @Mary - WOW I haven’t heard anything From: Albert in years - very neat to know!

From: Shannon McArthur (11:53 AM) reflecting heat seems a waste of good energy.

From: AM)Y A BLUMENSHINE (11:53 AM) Wouldn’t it be nice to have the floating mirror fields play a role in sifting out plastic waste From: the ocean? Perhaps they could also catch plastic bags which wind-powered special cargo barges could collect.

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:54 AM) @AM)y, I like the idea, sustainable use of all equipment we have.

From: Mary Olson (11:54 AM) Question on IPCC: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (a working group at the UN levelhttps://www.ipcc.ch/

From: Shannon McArthur (11:54 AM) me too @AM)y @Liliane

From: Liliane Mavridara (11:56 AM) The funds exist, they just need to be used in the right channels.

From: Shannon McArthur (11:56 AM) shading the ocean - would that interfere with plankton life? We need the oxygen it gives. thank you Tom

From: Jen Forti (11:57 AM) WOW TOM!

From: Jenna Tontz (11:57 AM) Thank you Tom! Has this idea been proposed to the UN?

From: Jen Forti (11:57 AM) AND BOB! THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!

From: Jude Asphar (11:58 AM) yes hats off to you, Tom….

From: Wesley Chuang (11:58 AM) Geoengineering will probably face the sAM)e opposition as GMOs.

From: Liliane Mavridara (12:02 PM Good point @Bob Thank you

From: Mary Olson (12:02 PM Two major energy crises have shown that people can cut 25--30% energy consumption with no government progrAM): ExAM)ple 1 was impact of ENRON supply manipulation in western states USA in 1990's... second is Japan after Tohoku quake and Fukushima Daiichi meltdowns when all nuclear was taken off-line... not saying these represent solutions--merely saying 25% reduction is a SMALL plan. Could be a bit more AM)bitious... but agree, BAN by 2050 is probably a recipe for failure...we need many small and medium successes...

From: Shannon McArthur (12:04 PM a combination of heat pump and reflection floats seems an interesting and viable construction.

From: Diane Skidmore (12:04 PM Good point @Mary - we CAN make changes ourselves. We need to really and it would be a start - feel that the politics is where the biggest change is needed - rules for the planet overall!!

From: Sharon Truax (12:04 PM thank you Tom. there are possibilities. but in the meantime those coal trains are rolling 24/7 dripping into the soil, ground water and affecting the marine life.

From: Thomas Glew (12:05 PM Does the mirror generate enough energy to move the machine, power rollers etc

From: Jen Forti (12:05 PM Who was that person Tom just mentioned as a funder?

From: Jenna Tontz (12:05 PM This sounds brilliant Tom.

From: Diane Skidmore (12:05 PM The emirs (Arabian oil states) @Jen

From: Crystal (12:06 PM At what phase in the process would governments have to buy in given military divisions of the ocean?

From: Diane Skidmore (12:06 PM Q - can the mirror system be used to clean the ocean too?

From: Kurt Krueger (12:06 PM PachAM)AM)a.org and Drawdown gives progrAM)s on the 100 solutions FREE. Much is online. If you can’t find it communicate with =m. We’ve been presenting both - even to NASA/JPL, and CalTech!

From: Shannon McArthur (12:06 PM Q - can the mirror system and heat pump be combined?

From: Jen Forti (12:07 PM Is Gretta privy to the mirror fields?

From: Wesley Chuang (12:07 PM The NAVY and the wildlife loving dark greens won't approve the floating mirrors nor anything offshore on the U.S. Pacific Coast.

From: Kala Perkins (12:07 PM Jen, he mentioned US gov source for funding; putting lots of money into complex solutions seems more attractive than actually ecologically solving the problems

From: Shannon McArthur (12:08 PM Chat-People, there will be a lively discussion today!! You are ALL Chat-People, if you join us!

From: Jen Forti (12:09 PM IMAGINATION

From: Diane Skidmore (12:09 PM We are here through and with hope, tom - a few of us left!!

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:09 PM Giving up assumes that plants and animals will continue to provide food, but that won’t happen. Plants are more fragile than we are.

From: Me to All panelists: (12:09 PM We should be inviting Paul Hawken to present here on Humanity Rising... He's the author of both Blessed Unrest and DRAWDOWN.

From: Shannon McArthur (12:09 PM Chat-People link to the Zoom Room: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81045613451?pwd=S1JxSE9WNzJQV2JKSXhhaFZ3Wng1UT09

From: Diane Skidmore (12:10 PM Thank you Tom!! You succeeded. Thank you

From: Jenna Tontz (12:10 PM Depends on who the people elect as leaders are when it comes to approval.

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:11 PM @Jim yes - if you thin there are no consequences you haven’t thought hard enough.

From: Shannon McArthur (12:11 PM aka Murphy’s Law

From: Kala Perkins (12:11 PM Thank you Jim

From: Kurt Krueger (12:11 PM Thanks for showing your vision and it can trigger others into another Solution(s) that’s what saves us - collaboration/cooperation/unity. : From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:11 PM I wonder about wild seas swAM)ping those mirrors.

From: Jude Asphar (12:11 PM What about a universal ‘PlanetaryPax’….a peaceful and symbolic and actual way each of us (over the age of 21?) pays to the planet toward helping preserve her elements which create and maintain our existence ~

From: Shannon McArthur (12:12 PM me too, Kathryn

From: Diane Skidmore (12:12 PM Big thank you to Bob too - the voice of common sense above the screen throughout

From: Jenna Tontz (12:12 PM The way we have reacted to the pandemic in the US has been pretty pathetic.

From: Shannon McArthur (12:12 PM Yes @Jim!!

From: Me to All panelists: (12:12 PM There are consequences... to many good things. Take the Automobile for exAM)ple... Even eating food has consequences for the climate.

From: Shannon McArthur (12:13 PM @Jenna, we learn From: Our mistakes. Sorry you have to be part of the mistake.

From: Thomas Glew (12:13 PM How do you control terrorist actions against the mirror machine

From: Liliane Mavridara (12:13 PM It may be that all these solutions need all to happen at the sAM)e time.

From: AM)Y A BLUMENSHINE (12:13 PM It’s all about

From: Diane Skidmore (12:13 PM @JIm - Back to nature and simple life!!! Thank you!!!

From: Laura Madsen (12:13 PM Well said Jim. Staying connected with nature, allowing her to heal through our renewed orientation to life

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (12:13 PM Expensives still puts money in the hands of the 1 percent

From: Diane Skidmore (12:14 PM @Doreen - exactly - no system change there

From: AM)Y A BLUMENSHINE (12:14 PM What is it going to take to change global human behavior, especially AM)ong those profiting most From: the current setup.

From: Jenna Tontz (12:14 PM That’s the ideal Jim but not we’re too far gone into the consumeritis of the modern world to wait for people to remember they’re nature.

From: Kurt Krueger (12:14 PM

  1. 6 out of the hundred most efficacious ways to REVERSE GLOBAL WARMING is Educating Women! Look at Drawdown edited by Paul Hawken.

From: Jude Asphar (12:15 PM yes, Jim absolutely…reorient humanity — it is we human beings who make up governments and corporations and laws and limits…and yes we human beings can embody love and compassion…the sad thing is it’s not those — men mostly — who seek to and get to the top of the heap

From: Diane Skidmore (12:15 PM What's killing us is our own bad behaviour!!!

From: Shannon McArthur (12:15 PM we must create the new system that supports us OUTSIDE of the system that is failing. It takes work and imagination.

From: Sabinije von Gaffke to Me, All panelists: (12:15 PM ‘What about a universal ‘PlanetaryPax’….a peaceful and symbolic and actual way each of us’ - a lovely thought that can be a path paver to re:setting our mindsets to become more aware, conscious and aligned with nature

From: Doreen Tanenbaum (12:16 PM Yes he was courag

From: Diane Skidmore (12:16 PM thank you @Shannon - and that's what we are here for!! (HR!!! From: Shannon McArthur (12:16 PM taking the heat out of the ocean seems a stride in the right direction.

From: Me to All panelists: (12:16 PM Let's get Paul Hawken on Humanity Rising!!!

From: Laura Madsen (12:16 PM What is killing us is the consequence of the severity of our collective trauma—frozen consciousness that is disconnected,

From: Wesley Chuang (12:16 PM Both climate change and forest management turns out.

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:16 PM Cooling the oceans would help keep life there as fish are dying, coral is dying because of both heat and acidification.

From: Jenna Tontz (12:17 PM exactly Tom

From: Kala Perkins (12:17 PM It’s bizarre when truth is politically controversial - such a statement about our human dilemma!

From: Jenna Tontz (12:17 PM We can’t meditate ourselves and others out of this. thank you Tom

From: Sabinije von Gaffke to Me, All panelists: (12:17 PM Stanley thank you for the suggestion on Paul Hawken in a panel or session on HR - we will def looked into that

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:17 PM @Kala yes!

From: Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson (12:18 PM It may not simply be either/or—it is both a physical problem & a mental/consciousness problem

From: Jude Asphar (12:18 PM why does it have to take so much courage to challenge the dominant systems heading us over the cliff? but yes, hats off to Wade Crowfoot and any others who speak truth to power

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:18 PM Agriculture….

From: Sharon Truax (12:18 PM thank you @jim.

From: Jane (12:18 PM Agree Jenna....the numbers don't lie.

From: Liliane Mavridara (12:18 PM Partnering!

From: Tobe Terrell (12:18 PM The worst danger is that people around the world would continue to rely on technological solutions instead of recognition that we all have to take responsibility.

From: Diane Skidmore (12:18 PM Those who care - yes. And we are many - but we need to STAND Up and SAY SO!!!

From: Jenna Tontz (12:18 PM precisely bob it’s BOTH

From: Kat Haber (12:18 PM If we give up now, surely we will have sealed homo sapiens’ fate along with all the other species Xtinctions. My gut says, “Don’t mess with Mother Nature.” This is our moment to right our relations. CO is our design challenge. Brilliant conversation about unintended consequences. I appreciate the variant points of view. Thank you, all!

From: Victoria Schwarz Schwarz (12:18 PM And no deniers allowed in the meantime!

From: Kathryn Alexander, MA (12:18 PM Thank you Tom and Bob for your intense caring and willingness to step up!
