----Today we explore the 1947 incident at Roswell, New Mexico which initiated the modern UFO era. We do so with '''[[Donald R. Schmitt]]''', a seven-time best-selling investigative author and a former director of CUFOS, where he also served as director of special investigations for 10 years. Presently, he is the lead investigator for the world famous International UFO Museum and Research Center (IUFOMRC) in Roswell, New Mexico, where he also serves as an advisor to the executive director. An international lecturer, he has made personal presentations in China, Japan, Australia, throughout Europe, the UK, South America, Mexico, Canada, and Russia. His first book, UFO Crash at Roswell (1991), co-authored with Kevin D. Randle, was made into the Golden Globe–nominated movie Roswell (1994). He was also an on-set advisor for the TV series Roswell (1999–2002). His book Witness to Roswell (2007, revised in 2009 and 2022), co-authored with Thomas J. Carey, was the number-one-selling UFO book in the world for two straight years. The book is currently optioned by Bryce Zabel and Don Most for feature film production. He is also the American representative for the International Coalition for Extraterrestrial Research (ICER) and serves on their executive council. ICER is currently represented by 31 countries and continues to acquire parliamentary support to be recognized by UNESCO, which is part of the United Nations. Schmitt graduated cum laude from Concordia University.

Prior to that time, he was a special investigator for the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek and the art director for the International UFO Reporter. Schmitt graduated cum laude from Concordia University. He is the author of numerous articles about UFOs, as well as a seven-time best selling author of several best-selling books: UFO Crash at Roswell, The Truth About the UFO Crash at Roswell, Witness to Roswell, unmasking the 60 year cover up and Roswell, The Chronological Pictorial. He has appeared on Oprah, CBS 48 Hours, Larry King Live, CNN News just to name a few. Schmitt has led and organized the five only archeological dig projects at the actual Roswell crash/debris field conducted in 1989, 2002, 2006, 2013, 2016. The second effort became the central theme of the highest rated show up to that time in the history of the Sci Fi Channel The Roswell Crash: Startling New Evidence. The basis of his research and consultation has been the theme of many documentaries. Schmitt feels that by far his greatest achievement was the Golden Globe Best Picture nominated motion picture Roswell that was based on the first book. Presently, he is the Lead Investigator for the International UFO Museum & Research Center in Roswell, N.M. and an American Representative of the International Coalition for Extraterrestrial Research (ICER).
