We celebrate the Fourth of July when most people are having barbecues with a celebration of veganism. Our world is in dire need of healing, at all levels. Veganism starts by healing one’s relationship to oneself—all parts of the self, from gut and body to mind and heart. That healing then extends out, in ever-widening circles, to other people, to other animals, and, finally, to whole ecosystems. A vegan community is a loving community by definition and embraces all. Join '''[[Tami Hay]]''' and '''[[Jamen Shively]]''' on a journey of healing through veganism.

'''[[Tami Hay]]''' earned a master’s degree in live food nutrition and has studied with integrative MDs. She now teaches others the wisdom of food as medicine. Her love for her grandchildren and all children inspired her to launch an organization called A Million Vegan Grandmothers, which promotes a vegan lifestyle for the liberation of humans and non-humans alike wishing all people the spiritual upgrade veganism can bring, within the opportunity to explore the possibilities opened up by natural laws of wellness and sustainable practices within a healed mind-body and thriving earth-gut; walking together as searchers on the road less travelled. Along that road, she enjoys long barefoot, forest walks, connecting with community, and cold electron-rich water plunges helps her release the struggles of a world of ‘forgetting’. She lives with her dog, Omni, and also shares her log country home in Canada with her partner, Paul, and many friends, trees, family, grandchildren, retreat participants, yogis, foodies, plants and sprouts.

'''[[Jamen Shively]]''' has been involved in technology, humanitarian and environmental work since high school, when he spent four multi-month stints in central Mexico for summer- and winter-long volunteer projects involving latrine construction, sanitation, and community health development. Studying civil and environmental engineering at U.C. Berkeley and M.I.T., Jamen went on to consult and work for a number of multinational companies, including Cemex of Mexico, and Microsoft, where he worked as Corporate Strategy Manager. Post-Microsoft, Jamen teamed up with former Mexican President Vicente Fox to end the prohibition of cannabis in our hemisphere, replacing it with responsible, regulated legalization. Jamen committed 100% of his share of the profits from his ventures to ending world hunger, thus pioneering the CCC standard (certified compassionate companies) for a Compassionate Economy. Seeing the synergies between solving two major global problems simultaneously – hunger and prohibition – he envisioned a platform and process for simultaneously and holistically solving all of the world’s most daunting problems, based on collective human intelligence – CHI. He, Tami, and myriad colleagues around the world are realizing this dream centered around Tami’s aforementioned projects, as well as Radish.org, TheConversation.cc, Kindred Spirits Ireland, Food Healers, and most recently a Peoples’ Forum for Cooling the Planet.
