Indigenous and Western ways of knowing can complement each other when we have the courage use both of our eyes, “two-eyed seeing”, in the words of Mi’kmaw Elder Albert Marshall. '''[[Ken Cohen]]''' will share a two-eyed seeing perspective on Native American/First Peoples healing traditions by exploring principles and practices and how these practices are interpreted by Western biomedicine. He will also discuss barriers to understanding created by stereotypes and misconceptions promoted by colonial “histories”, Hollywood, and New Age fantasies. And he will share his own learning journey that led him to be recognized and respected as an indigenous healing practitioner.
