The Breath-Body-Mind Foundation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, teaches evidence-based breath-centered techniques worldwide to relieve stress, depression, and trauma in adults and children. Over the past 20 years, we developed Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) programs for relief of stress and trauma, especially for large groups of people experiencing war, terrorism, political upheaval, and natural disasters, such as climate change, earthquakes, fires, and floods. The methods are a fusion of ancient mind-body practices from around the world honed by modern neuroscience and psychology. Our goal was to create simple practices that are rapidly and highly effective so that a small group of teachers could quickly help large groups of people affected during mass disasters. Our New Model of Care quickly trains local people (community extenders) how to teach BBM to others, multiplying the number of people who can be reached. This New Model of Care has been successful in South Sudan, Rwanda, Turkey, Ukraine, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, UK, USA, and other countries. For example, since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, BBMF has trained over 350 psychologists, other mental healthcare professionals, and schoolteachers. These Ukrainians have taught BBM breath practices to thousands of adults and children to stop panic attacks during air raid alarms, become able to sleep, experience normal emotions, and regain the energy, hope, and mental focus they need to survive.
