Biodiversity and climate change are two sides of the same coin. Addressing climate change without dealing with biodiversity doesn’t solve the problem. The complex ecosystems that make life sustainable on Earth rely on a stable environmental system as well as an incredibly diverse set of lifeforms. The Earth has seen a steady increase in the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and rising temperatures for the past 150 years while at the same time we’ve lost an ever-increasing number of species and now have 1,000,000 of the known 8,000,000 on the endangered species list.

Unfortunately, recent studies show that time is running out and that we can no longer continue to deny the scope and the seriousness of the challenge. Instead we must act, individually and collectively and act decisively, for it is now clear that humanity and the precious habitat that sustains us must also be added to the Endangered list.

This dialogue will include passionate and recognized leaders sharing their perspectives. The invited members include:

Convener:

  • Jim Garrison, President, Ubiquity University
