The United States is descending into a Constitutional crisis as the November 3 election enters its final month. President Trump is in the process of staging acoup d'etatso that whatever the election results, he will stay in power. Trump and the Republican Party are declaring in advance that the elections will be fraudulent and therefore the courts must decide. This is the logic behind the recent attempt to eviscerate the US Postal Service so that mail is slowed, disseminating fake news that the elections are corrupted, encouraging Trump voters to actually create confusion by voting twice, and replacing the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the Supreme Court with yet another arch conservative before the election. An article in The Atlantic  just published last week lays out Trump’s strategy, already in motion. The world and all Americans need to understand the gravity of the Constitutional crisis engulfing the country and what we can all do about it.
