The Catholic Church has been responsible for tremendous violence for centuries based on the Doctrine of Discovery, on the exclusion of women and so many others, on power-over relationships  and beyond. For the Catholic Church to center nonviolence would have to entail a radical accounting for past harms and a significant shift in internal Church relationships.
