Text of the Zoom Chat from Humanity Rising Day 273

...

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (11:02 AM)

Good Morning from the woods of North Carolina Cherokee Country

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:04 AM)

Good morning from Kamloops BC, unceded land of T’Secwepemc people.

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:08 AM)

Good day from sunny Nova Scotia.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:11 AM)

Oh my... This episode today  just may be the most profound we have been blessed with...

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:12 AM)

I think you may be right Stanley.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:13 AM)

The "resource" section linked on his website is amazing. ::https://www.romankrznaric.com/good-ancestor/resources::

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

Joanna Macy’s work informs this also.

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

Absolutely Shannon

Jen Forti to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

I believe I’ve found the link to that exhibit … ::https://www.empathymuseum.com/a-mile-in-my-shoes/::

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

In terms of promoting Empathy in children, The Roots Of Empathy programme is excellent.::https://us.rootsofempathy.org/::

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:21 AM)

Beautiful!

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:24 AM)

We're making profound decisions now...

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Same in North America.

There is a reason why our Indigenous ancestors are called "First Peoples".

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)

Agree Stan!   Every decision is important

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:32 AM)

When did it begin that humanity stopped taking the past and future into consideration when making decisions.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:33 AM)

Helpfulness

We're entering the "Age of Helpfulness." Human society can be more peaceful and prosperous as more people become engaged in paying attention to the needs of others. Use this group to work together. Let's be helpful to the people we know, the people we meet and the people on the other side of the street.

-- From the Facebook group "Helpful Philadelphia"

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:34 AM)

The Baby becomes the teacher.

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)

So Marvelous!!!

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:41 AM)

interesting how as we become connected to the earth, we connect to our ancestors and future generations

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)

Who is she? Biomimicry is SO important!

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

doughnut economics is the answer, I believe

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

We’ve made a hell of a mess of our nest /playground!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

Oh Shannon one of my herts and she provided one of the central values in the Resilient Values Set. She’s wonderful.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)

Her name?

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)

Additionally, I have witnessed very positive results from the Roots of Empathy programme,, especially when it comes to those students who are living through traumatic and difficult circumstances, which often leads to behvioural difficulties and emotional distress.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:44 AM)

Roman offers a set of references on his website ::https://www.romankrznaric.com/good-ancestor/resources::

Thank you so much!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)

Janine Benyus

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)

being in the present moment, connects us with nature and time as infinite, not chronological time

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)

Our early childhood school need to be focused outside

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)

Ah, Kathryn. Great!

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

How Wealth Rules the World - the book:

CELDEF published a book that reveals the most important environmental and legal blockages to democracy and the rights of communities and nature by Ben G. Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)

I want more of this kind of normal!  Yes!

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

"what would giving rights to unborn children do to abortion rights...?"

NOW THAT'S WORTH GIVING SOME THOUGHT TO.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)

Is it new knowledge or the capacity of the whole of us?

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

Mary - part of those rights is a world that is thriving and part of ensuring that is limiting the number of human.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

Mary, pointed question. Good one.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

we have lost our instinct and knowledge about the natural world.   humans used to know instinctively how to use plants as medicine, for example

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

We lack the ability to make evidenced-based decisions. Instead we make our critical decisions based on political or religious dogma.

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

Charles, I think most of our decisions are based on emotion and identity, not facts.

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (11:58 AM)

Our emotions and identity are commonly based on political or religious dogma.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)

we have to tap into our higher selves, where knowledge is downloaded from spiritual sources, goddesses, gods, angels, intuition

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)

Racism seems to suggest we are already infusing ‘values’ into our culture - we have only just become conscious of that.

Charles, yes there is certainly some of that!

C B to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)

What is a fact? Would be awesome if we allowed ourselves to be utilized as conduits, implements, vehicles so decisions  could MOVE THROUGH US vs come FROM us. We Are It so as we coalesce With and As It, and immerse in our Knowingness and Beingness we can be True Rescources and Representatives of the Source so Highest Expression can be Experienced.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:01 PM)

Can we apply Elinor Ostrom's ideas to sharing the planet?

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

What are your thoughts on Creating Peace? Is there 5-11 jump starters for creating much more Peace for ourselves and planet?

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

conscious application, conscious, we do it automatically, but to be choiceful….

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

(Men) began to conceive of new computers having an intelligence far greater than that of man… Gradually, man turned more and more problems of his own society, his own maintenance, and his own survival over to these machines. They began to construct their own components, their own connections, and the interrelations between their various sub-computers… The machines became increasingly integrated with one another and more and more independent of Man’s control.     –Dr. John E. Lilly.  The Scientist  p.148.

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

C.B….agree about being conduits

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)

C B … we are. And we’re figuring out how to let Spirit have Her way through us. I trust.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:04 PM)

Ostrom's 8 Principles

Jump to navigation

Jump to search

Based on her extensive work, Ostrom offers 8 principles for how commons can be governed sustainably and equitably in a community.

8 Principles for Managing a Commons

   Define clear group boundaries.

Match rules governing use of common goods to local needs and conditions.

Ensure that those affected by the rules can participate in modifying the rules.

Make sure the rule-making rights of community members are respected by outside authorities.

Develop a system, carried out by community members, for monitoring members’ behavior.

Use graduated sanctions for rule violators.

Provide accessible, low-cost means for dispute resolution.

Build responsibility for governing the common resource in nested tiers from the lowest level up to the entire interconnected system.

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

Some notes I sent only went to panelists so I resend now to all

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

meditate, ask our past and future selves for wisdom, sensing the answers,  I dont believe our  thinking mind has the answer

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

The preamble of the Universal Declaration says that it is the responsibility of every individual and every entity of society to take proactive action, both national and international, to achieve the rights and to educate about the Universal Declaration. But yet most school children do not even know about it. Every school ought to include it in the curriculum. Article 28 of the Declaration says that we are all entitled to a social and international order sufficient to fulfill and provide us with the rights. It is an incredible document and agreement.

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

Is Spiritual AI an oxymoron?

Richard Page to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

The Templars developed global banking in the 12th century, long before the Medicis …

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

Shannon yes…it is a matter of trusting in Spirit

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

When we think about future generations we ought to think about waste dumps. Only 9% of the natural resources that we access and use are recycled or reused. The rest is just thrown away and either pollutes the natural environment or ends up in a waste dump. These waste dumps are created with no thought about how we will probably have to mine them so the resources can be used by future generations. But these waste dumps are such a total mess it will probably be almost impossible to do it.

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

t would make so much more sense to transition to as fully a circular economy as possible and then to stockpile any remaining wastes in such a way that they can then be much easier mined and re-used later. Almost no one is talking about the need to do things like this. How do we convince people that we need to embark upon a whole of society redesign re-evolution to plan for a fully regenerative and sustainable future?

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

exactly Shannon,  the mind got us into this mess

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

Given the extent to which humanity is destroying the natural environment, drawing down the natural resource base and are undermining our ability to live well on planet earth, how do we convince people that we need to embark upon a whole of society redesign re-evolution to plan for a fully regenerative and sustainable future?

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

Rob, thank you for including us in your comments!

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

More people, more waste.

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

Capitalism is really “cannibalism”. We are eating our world.

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

We have these Waste Dumps exactly because we didn't plan ahead for the future generations.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

can the waste be converted into resources?

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

I deeply appreciate our visibility in the eyes of our engaging teachers… we teach each other well!

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

You are welcome Shannon

ALL OUR RELATIONS! LISTEN and SPEAK WITH THE PLANTS, planet,  AND ANIMALS…

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

a global moratorium on taking resources from the planet until all the waste is converted into resources and used up.

C B to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

It's a great opportunity to tap into Universal Wisdom beyond the individual and partner with AI, AR, Machine Learning to be a tap who creates ripples which cause waves of awakening. This is already happening in emerging business and tech. Silicon Valley is supporting this movement with entrepreneurs. So much mainstream doesn't see yet.

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

One Strange Rock, narrated with Will Smith.

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Travel is a wonderful way to learn about the experience of others.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Travel, long stays, but not tourism, tourism causes a lot of destruction and inequality

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)

That is a great idea Alecia - I will support and promote it.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)

like sister cities or twin cities

Charles Bensinger to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)

Maybe the aliens are really coming and offer us a chance for universal multi-species cooperation and collaboration.

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)

Absolutely Alecia. Ideally travel and 'live' in and with others from different places around the globe.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:17 PM)

Networks of networks requires directories of directories - indexes...

Rob Wheeler to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)

Calling for a moratorium on resource extraction will draw attention to how much we are now destroying

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)

Instead of war, imagine our common efforts directed at fixing what we’ve broken and messed up… time to clean up our sandbox so we can look to what we can do together…

C B to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)

The "fight" is to get beyond the concept of individual self, to transcend first glance, so we can Be in Connectivity, coalesce in the honoring the gifts of each expression/ aspect of Source so we can move as a unit/ united in the ToGatherNess.

Alecia Caine to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)
