MP: grew up with passionate Xperience of how churches can help people through crises, mother passionate environmentalist, grew up in a soulless place, slums of Bristol bombing in the war, mom planted a wood, now a beautiful wood 50 years on, suffered where no nature, animals tortured/hurt, we are part of nature, not apart from it, we are to serve rest of creation, became atheist at 14, Xams terrible at languages/sciences, chose, English, History, and wanted to do geology, can not do languages/science headmaster who suggested theology to destroy the church ripped and find nothing is there, found still quiet voice of Christ instead, read Classical CHinese> Taosim shaped faith/christianity, then Classical Chinese at Cambridge met JG there, Taoism gave different set of languages than set from nature, Taoism only indigenous Classic Chinese religion, preserving 4 Buddhist/5 sacred Taoist mountains, Buddhist monasteries quad on mtns view, Taoist temples are small seem to grow out of the soil itself,

Shannon - so interesting - yes!! And phone call (as he was talking) from my son, who suffers from living 'away from nature' just down the road. Actually said to him "We both live in the same place - with a different state of mind." (Lucky for me - still a part of nature - in my head!!) Also...….. he's an I Ching person. Have the  book in my head and - live my life with/by it!!

MP: living in children’s home, hour bus journey into the center of Hong Kong, looked for a gothic church, preaching all dreadful no resemblance to the current culture, complete bubble, pretending they still live in Buddhist culture fake transport of a chunk of architecture that has little to do with the heart of the faith, church in China in the Tang Dynasty 615-905 AD church thin little book version that had adapted to Chinese culture, like Hebrew gets shoehorned into Greek philosophy, spoke to MP, fascinated with Chinese culture, taoism, Buddhisim, Tao Te Ching twice, like to be commissioned to translate the 10 texts (1025, rest in DUngwhaun caves sealed up with thousands of other Chinese texts) protestant fears sanitized the texts, original nature, Book with a map seems to show the site of an early Church pagoda, Japanese sly map gap in a 150 miles of mountains thru which they could drive tanks, where is the Tao Ching Pagoda, next temple over, Found a pagoda original arrived fields, greeted by 114Buddhist

Pagoda from 780 114 year old Buddhist nun, wondered what was going on, MP declared once was a church in China, all colleagues had gone, by the hand she said, “you want to pray don’t you? Don;t worry, they will all hear you.” Discovered statues inside, terror of heights, scaffolding out of bamboo must climb up the 30’ go into the windows of the pagoda to see 1/2 statues, can you do a live commentary as you enter, complete fear of heights, shaking, half the floor has fallen away covered in dead birds/bits, then looked up to shout “F*$^ing Jesus Christ!” 5 sacred mountains of Taoism, another statue showing JOna outside Nineva, Church of the east was in Nineva persian empire, no way BBC would broadcast this, went into the structure the statue>>>OLDest nativity in the world in a Church in China, Jesus sutras, 6 part history Episode #1, see pagoda

MP: before ARC, setup first multi faith education center in late 70’s in Manchester 12,000/year, JG’s wife Claire, urban trails where/why/how altered Chinese migration, Jewish 1880’s brought 1000 piece and stopped way buildings were oriented> WWF trying to produce material for all school cr=uriculum, religion til 15 its studied in public schools, worlds of difference? 8 religions did well, sold 1.5 million copies in UK, international pres of WWF was then Prince Philip read/understood it, went to meeting of WWF International NOV 1985 celebrating Economics, outspoken declared not coming, “if data and info was how we were going to save the planet, we would have done it by now, but nobody has been converted by a pie chart” 2 forces have changed people’s hear/sminds: ART & RELIGIONS>>>Deadly silence Western White male scientists, well let’s see St. Francis awfully Christian sir? Will you visit Prince Philip and tell him the truth asked by WWF to meet member of Royal Family with WWF Int, Mr Palmer Xplained why

This is not a very good idea, think bigger with every major religion, if that is what you believe, what can you bring to the table, sat there for 4hours for ALL major religions to come together for earth care, 4 hours planning a huge program with the Queens husband, enter the room with Queen for a drink: Gin & tonic, all gone, (GREAT< GREAT STORYTELLING!)

JG: Major breakthroughs?
 +
 +
And after putting the idea of growing trees across the world, different governments and politicians all said what a good idea but did nothing. The only people who responded were the royal family - the Queen, Charles, William and Harry!! Now The Commonwealth Canopy - linking all the commonwealth countries -amazing!!

MP: 1995 Religions and Conservation, WWF: scared by religion challenged their notion of truth and story, TRUTH BETTER TOLD IN STORY!, no one ever reads your reports, only use word used in poetry, if a word is not in a poem nobody loves it, if not inside the ten must be outside the tent, great faiths most sustainable organizations, been through this before, ARC: Abrahamic faiths NOAH, falls flat for all the other religions, #1 realized atlas of faiths owned/controlled audit, second in 2007, still run 50% of all schools around the world, 1/3 universities, 1/2 medical, third largest investing group 14 Trillion, 8% of surface of planet, 15% considered sacred surface of planet, protected by holiness, more communication media that whole of EU, they are stakeholders, treated by UN?World Bank, G7 were treated wrong/dangerous/schools stripped, land taken,  believers slaughters, more killed by seculars toward the believers by factor of 5, nationalism, Fascism, Communism, faiths still in state of shock,

Science has become the religion!!
 +
 +
Thankyou Martin for saying this. Yes secularism has caused more damage in many different forms, so has Marxist and communist thinkers.  But religion thrives on fear and separation instead of teaching oneness with all beings.

And everyone needs to learn about SRM, Solar Radiation Management, a way to reflect back the heat of the sun by placing solar mirrors on oceans and deserts and lands. It will cool the planet and needs investments to make it large scale. It would give lots of people jobs.

MP: only ever able to be a gadfly, remit debts owed by developing countries, shareholders meeting send in a nun in a habit, thrown down the steps by security guards the end as an irritant, really they are stakeholders, investment boards, school boards going on biz as usual, not realizing that what they were doing with their assets is where they should be making the difference, FatihInvest.org (Jim makes details uponly through changing the nature of business, $1.5 trillion moved into proactive investment, against racism/petrol> largest disinvestors in fossil fuels, religions good at being against fossil fuels, what are they for? God to core beliefs tradition by tradition, US to core texts, values, influenced in negative users, Jane on killing life, what will you invest in? Bringing in positive specific religions program within World Bank working religion/financial leaderships of reactionary leaders with notion that religion should not be involved in money-MYTH!

Fantastic, Cindy! Thank you! Will let you know when it's printed and sent to me!
 +

Did I hear this correctly?  Tell people they are going to hell if they are not caring for the environment?
 +
 +
A Muslim Fatwa; L’Dato Si and......?
 +
 +
Conversions? some religions are very good at this . They manage to find the weakest link in a chain and play it to the hilt. Yes an environmental policy is not enough you also need an alternative and regenerative policy to substitute the shifting on agricultural practices.
 +
 +
That's probably the only way the establishment could get followers to listen, horrifying though any fatwa is.
 +
 +
I heard it and  still havn't got over it.

MP: what if you could do good and increase your investments, fantastic leaders beginning to shift>economic system shifts, financial world is a herd animal if small group at top will shift, herd will follow, texts how will you implement those in your investments>Shareholder side #2 700 traditions to make their own commitments, based on their own beliefs, campaign by campaign fails, conversion is not a quick case, what will be the 2 great moments: Catholics & Muslims recognize environment as a godly issue, think in generations, give the time Laudato SI radicalized Catholic concern, 42 million members, fates utterly against the faith against illegal wildlife/forestry trade> 1/3 world’s population Catholism/Islam now have environmental policies, intsitutions have to be patient, does not happen fast, spring up quickly perish, patient grows, 200 history of China Communism, pages 110-118, 3 kingdoms, Empires Come, Empires Go, Tao goes on forever, long after Communist party is Chapter 7 in a 12 volume series!

JG: Vatican Pope Francis increasingly proactive for climate change?
 +
 +
When will the Vatican rescind the doctrine of discovery. considering they obliterated many indigenous cultures and their good environmental practices.
 +
 +
I hope so MALINI
 +
 +
Pope Francis's Encyclical Laudate Si was an extraordinary breakthrough for the environment.
 +
 +
And the next pope (the one now) is pretty amazing! (it seems imho)
 +
 +
the Catholics have done great harm. They have the capacity to do great good - and should.
 +

Doctrine of Discovery needs to be rescinded by the US government

indigenous people have their issues also
 +
 +
Phew!!! Thank you Martin - yes, a whole new system is needed
 +
 +
The US is becoming such an international pariah, including US Catholics to Pope Francis.  I wish my fellow citizens understood how our “exceptionalism” is seen as outlaw-ism to others.
 +
 +
yes, Daniel
 +
 +
Our current cycle is less about transformation than it is transmutation.
 +
 +
without an exception every religion ( the practiced form ) not the spiritual part of religion) is all about land grab, growing ones constituency and amassing wealth for the benefit of a few at the cost of the many. And then distributing that wealth back to the many as largesse to create dependency and guilty gratitude.

The Sufis of Hazrat Inayat Khan and his late son Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and his son Pir Zia have as one main aspect of their teaching a Universal Service honoring the major religions, and there are a lot of interfaith services much more common. Orthodox Church build into a particular day each year for the program of a month before 1989 launched, ECOSIHK March 14 bEARTHday of 5th guru, tens of thousands SIKH celebrate SIKH Environment Day, only started in 2011, been doing this all our lives, makes abnormal normal and keeps the energy, embedding it within the faith because they did it themselves, Pope October 4 Day, COP26 in Glasgow 2021, work with major faiths, major commitments, (HELLO BOB!) calling this a show, faiths making long term plans, fasting 1/week or 1/month to fund environmental programs, ask to fast to live simpler, Lent, Panzer, Never say can never have fun again Muslimat the end of Ramadan, ask for simplicity then celebrate, not about what you can’tdo

MP: Looking forward, one most worrying thing: cultish nature of climate change movement, not the greatest issue that confronts us, symptom setting ourselves apart of nature (WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER!) notion of self sacrifice so others can do better nearly completely disappeared, if you really were suffering servant losing this, working in China in 1993 survey of sacred mountains teams, then anyone talking about environment was pristine, smash nature to get at resources, fund in China to bail out his team from prison, religion/environment was not spoken of, Ministry of Forestry and Industrialization anticipated being banned, fearful, Palmersan, we’ve been watching you, Yup Ive noticed actually, we need your help, what do you mean? Thru single child policy/cultural revolution, we’ve created the most selfish generation in CHina’s history spoiled!, we’ve looked around destroyed culture, belonging to communities, and selfish generation destroying themselves, not the case with religions, give up everything to serve

Rachel Root to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

What a fascinating background!!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

This morning my guides took me to the front of a beautiful church. When I took the steps and opened the front door, there were no walls, no ceiling, no floor. It was only a façade....

Jim Garrison to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

Thought I did mention Judaism. I named the major religions.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

JG: lunches gave out free food so learned to scavenge through clubs lunches as a poor student so attended SCM Student Christian Lunches>>>articulate with passion communicating climate>>>Martin Palmer, the domain of major religions as environmental institutions with Prince Phillip Environmental > FInInvest advising Pope Francis tackling climate change: mutual affection, Chinese classics translator into English, What led MP to grapple with religions as enviro opportunities? JG: Eat bread and steal cheese to take home, needed help as much as possible :) Father was a vicar with Church of England, knew that god was love, mom rapid atheist, her father was a new age con many fuortune tellers Sumerian numerology, left her life at 14, gave up spirituality as a con, His father lived the gospel compassion, 40-50 people in/out of home daily, mother psychotherapist offered a sharp, penetrating view of religion, MP noticed girls, most hymns are appalling poetry, no rhymes for God, Wesley’s washed in the blood of the lamb.

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

Great story!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

Diane, an estate! Like yours? (Not after you got at  it!!) and his mother, apparently!

Rachel Root to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

Wow! you received so much from both sides of your parents

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

i took a bible to school for the same reason!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:19 AM)

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

Shannon - so interesting - yes!! And phone call (as he was talking) from my son, who suffers from living 'away from nature' just down the road. Actually said to him "We both live in the same place - with a different state of mind." (Lucky for me - still a part of nature - in my head!!) Also...….. he's an I Ching person. Have the  book in my head and - live my life with/by it!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

Taoist you are there because this is the path that we must walk, we are a part of nature, not apart from nature,

JG: Pathway of Christianity into Chinese cultureJesus sutras, Martin?

Thanks Martin

And re the religion conversation - very aware of Bruce right now xxx

Daniel Rieders to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

I have a parallel story, was married to a christian hing Kong person (Buddhism lineage) for 2 decades

Jane Norton to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

Yes to Original Nature rather than Original Sin. Matthew Fox, Dominican who was silenced and excommunicated by the Vatican calls it Original Blessing

Kurt Krueger to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Matt is a dear soul. Great work.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

Goodness gracious me too hahahaha

Fave replacement words!!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

Kurt Krueger to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

Anyone have links to that?

I would have thought the oldest representation of the nativity would have been in the Kamaran scrolls and in the bhamiyan records of afghansitan .

What was the name of this book - Worlds of ——?

book: Worlds of Difference

Thank you

Prince Philip - he'd swear too haha

HRH also known as "Frank" ;)

Cindy, how irreverent!  hehe!

I wonder about the effect of ‘sanity’ in religion is effected by the study of it in school as a historical and ethical subject? Avoiding extremist and delusion-ism?

Will you visit Prince Philip and tell him the truth asked by WWF to meet member of Royal Family with WWF Int, Mr Palmer Xplained why

genius!

Brilliant storytelling!!!

Kat, Cindy - YES!!

1986 First Assisi Event

Prince Philip can be challenging, good friends, designed CC event, Clair(JG’s wife) main organizer, MP was the diplomat, EROSIA Christian group nature preserve in Portugal conservation area, birds, then Buddhist perception of nature-Nancy Nash education material in Tibetan/Thai now UN estimates 3.5 million environmental projects around the world

JG: Major breakthroughs?

And after putting the idea of growing trees across the world, different governments and politicians all said what a good idea but did nothing. The only people who responded were the royal family - the Queen, Charles, William and Harry!! Now The Commonwealth Canopy - linking all the commonwealth countries -amazing!!

Martin, what an amazing and inspiring story! Wonderful to have this opportunity of listening to it.

Feeling the presence of Jesus the Teacher in this message.

Thank you for sharing about Prince Philip and these understandings.

Feeling presence of Jesus the Teacher in the message of  the value of storytelling.

Wow!! The economy of religion! How logical to integrate the ecology with the religious economy!

Goodness gracious...…….

MP: 1995 Religions and Conservation, WWF: scared by religion challenged their notion of truth and story, TRUTH BETTER TOLD IN STORY!, no one ever reads your reports, only use word used in poetry, if a word is not in a poem nobody loves it, if not inside the ten must be outside the tent, great faiths most sustainable organizations, been through this before, ARC: Abrahamic faiths NOAH, falls flat for all the other religions, #1 realized atlas of faiths owned/controlled audit, second in 2007, still run 50% of all schools around the world, 1/3 universities, 1/2 medical, third largest investing group 14 Trillion, 8% of surface of planet, 15% considered sacred surface of planet, protected by holiness, more communication media that whole of EU, they are stakeholders, treated by UN?World Bank, G7 were treated wrong/dangerous/schools stripped, land taken,  believers slaughters, more killed by seculars toward the believers by factor of 5, nationalism, Fascism, Communism, faiths still in state of shock,

it is good to study and analyze … get  your ground under you and see where you stand

And have faith!!!

What in the world!! I have never heard those statistics before

Thanks Kat!!

Science has become the religion!!

Thankyou Martin for saying this. Yes secularism has caused more damage in many different forms, so has Marxist and communist thinkers.  But religion thrives on fear and separation instead of teaching oneness with all beings.

And (apologies for saying and it's not mine but) money!!!!!

The feminine rising to melt the patriarchy, integrating religion and money for good, based upon the natural world.

Great stuff Clare xxx

Thank you and I always wished children would act it out or someone would have a reading because it is all in dialogue.

That is fabulous news from the Muslim group's environmental policy.

Just emailed you, Clare. Sounds amazing.

Those three documents...….

Fantastic, Cindy! Thank you! Will let you know when it's printed and sent to me!

Did I hear this correctly?  Tell people they are going to hell if they are not caring for the environment?

A Muslim Fatwa; L’Dato Si and......?

Conversions? some religions are very good at this . They manage to find the weakest link in a chain and play it to the hilt. Yes an environmental policy is not enough you also need an alternative and regenerative policy to substitute the shifting on agricultural practices.

That's probably the only way the establishment could get followers to listen, horrifying though any fatwa is.

Yes, Crystal! Only it’s what we’re creating 🤣

MP: Such beautiful details, and delights!

Thanks Kat - was hoping you'd catch all that!! Thank you again!!

Martin, Fantastic loving work, with wonderful, dry, British humor. Please feel free to come to the After Chat.

JG: Vatican Pope Francis increasingly proactive for climate change?

When will the Vatican rescind the doctrine of discovery. considering they obliterated many indigenous cultures and their good environmental practices.

I hope so MALINI

Pope Francis's Encyclical Laudate Si was an extraordinary breakthrough for the environment.

And the next pope (the one now) is pretty amazing! (it seems imho)

the Catholics have done great harm. They have the capacity to do great good - and should.

Doctrine of Discovery needs to be rescinded by the US government

Yes, I've pondered how different our world would have been had the colonialists respected the indigenous and learned from them.

yes, Kala. Yes.

Transform capitalism!

indigenous people have their issues also

Phew!!! Thank you Martin - yes, a whole new system is needed

The US is becoming such an international pariah, including US Catholics to Pope Francis.  I wish my fellow citizens understood how our “exceptionalism” is seen as outlaw-ism to others.

yes, Daniel

Our current cycle is less about transformation than it is transmutation.

without an exception every religion ( the practiced form ) not the spiritual part of religion) is all about land grab, growing ones constituency and amassing wealth for the benefit of a few at the cost of the many. And then distributing that wealth back to the many as largesse to create dependency and guilty gratitude.

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)

Yes Amy, the underbelly of the US is flipped and we need to to really come to terms with it and transform it.

Daniel Rieders to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

I am conflicted, I feel more a citizen of the world rather than a US citizen. it is confusing

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

And yes Malini

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

that, Daniel, is a good thing. and yes, it can babe confusing.

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

Yes, Kala.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

MP: many were beginning to write the obituary under Benedict, wisdom/humility to retire in wrong place, did not force Pope Francis for holy spirit to move right person in right place, Francis fighting difficult battle against USA conservative forces, challenge to liberal radical agenda of Pope Francis, continues to associate with Laudato Is, read Evangelae Rips consumerist capitalism, LAudato Is replacing lies/deciet of consumerist capitalism, not making it nicer, make it cooperative, generous, before Laudato Is in preparation for Paris COP21, how little can we do to asking world leaders why do you care and will you go the Xtra mile 15% more than representatives of govs, working with Vatican to change behavior to subvert and change power, 2017 Faith Invest, UN in 2015 please bring together major religions to support SDG’s, 2017 Ghanaian man Keynote speaker, close to Pope Francis’ heart 2017> Catholic green entrepreneur programs with most major religions, UNDP website, link between Fatih Invest, Pope reform $

Daniel Rieders to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

I invited 2 friends to chat to introduce- work with entheogens

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

Daniel you are right you are a citizen of the world as I am and we look at those who don't see themselves as citizes of the world with compassion.

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

So important, seeing it all as it has been and is, to consciously, constructively and wisely transform it

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

She has a sense of humour, absolutely!!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

Daniel, this is common feeling during transition and makes decisions difficult sometimes. Confidence is near.

Daniel Rieders to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

definitely Malini. it has resonated true with me my whole life

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)

Brilliant Daniel - a citizen of the world!! I'm often really sad/embarrassed - all sorts of negative to be English/British!! also, for many years, when filling in forms who ask ethnology or background - I put Universal!!

Clare Rosenfield to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

The Sufis of Hazrat Inayat Khan and his late son Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and his son Pir Zia have as one main aspect of their teaching a Universal Service honoring the major religions, and there are a lot of interfaith services much more common. They need to connect with these interfaith communities too.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

Gosh - the Pope asking you to bring together major faiths ……….. Brilliant!!!!!

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

Martin: why don't you promote organic agriculture and farming that will be the first step to achieve progress towards mitigating climate change. Increased biochar in the soil reduces GHG and sequesters atmospheric carbon and nitrogen on a scale nothing else can.

KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

Love the fasting idea to fund enviro programs - WOW powerful

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

Don MacGregor to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Too much negativity in the chat. Look at the positives, please

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Pope and MP GOD HAS A WARPED SENSE OF HUMOR, work closely 7 year plan for Laudato SI roll out, committing themselves to 7010 year plan including into all operations/celebrations, creation tide, embedded deeply in the faith, not to be taken out again, how do you get something inside an org?

Clare Rosenfield to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Yes, Penelope! And he created the Universel, a temple that existed first in the Akashic but now is in Suresnes, France.

It’s all INHERENT in Indigenous ‘law’ and faiths - the forest keepers of the Amazon and the ancient Celtic relation to Nature; it’s reintegrating a sense of live in integrity

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

Why not make UBUNTU as part of faith around the world.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

(Enviros must guide then celebrate?) MP: Sing about, dance about it, pull resources together to get to work, launch longterm plans with pope, thousand Catholic orgs for long term plans, globally specific and different, what do they bring distinctively?

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

"Legitimate. Quite a good working framework" Brilliant words - spoken by a man who seems to not necessarily follow legitimate. I love him xxxxx

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

JG: people are stuck by Pope’s humility 2 questions: all you have been through, looking forward what is major ecology challenge? How all this work in humanism, faith, environment shaped your own faith?

David Stoney to Panelists and Attendees (12:11 PM)

THE MAJOR CHALLENGE: TIME!  Not enough time

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)
