			As the longest continuous democracy in history, the fall of democracy in America would have consequences far in excess to any consequences we face with the COVID pandemic. The pandemic will eventually pass but if Donald Trump succeeds in ending any semblance of meaningful democracy in the United States, the reverberations globally would be severe and long lasting. Authoritarianism would surely triumph. With the powers of surveillance inherent in social media and the internet, government and corporate power would be unchecked and tyranny could shape global politics for years to come.

			Each day from November 2 - 6, we will follow what is happening and bring in commentators who can help us understand the significance of the events.
