The challenge as a beginner - the training - the uncomfortable place at first “In the dialogue group we are not going to decide what to do about anything. This is crucial.
Otherwise we are not free.
We must have an empty space where we are not obliged to do anything, nor to come to any conclusions, nor to say anything or not say anything. It's open and free. It's an empty space.
The word 'leisure' has that meaning of a kind of empty space.
"Occupied" is the opposite of leisure; it's full.
So we have here a kind of empty space where anything may come in - and after we finish, we just empty it.
We are not trying to accumulate anything.
That's one of the points about dialogue.
As Krishnamurti used to say,
"The cup has to be empty to hold something."

Integrity and Consciousness of the participants in a dialogue is imperative. There is also a power/powerless dynamic that determines the result of a dialogue. I have witnessed in corporate settings a worthwhile dialogue result that after the setting gets revised toward an agenda.

Connie and I attended the SEED conference series in Albuquerque 2005 - 2009 which was based on Bohm’s ideas and Native American consensus techniques. Very challenging work! Loved it.

It seems that the industrial revolution and “leadership” in prior Feudalism and non democratic tribalism is left hemisphere based - we’ve become unbalanced bureaucrats with unbalanced egos - the balanced ego just watches - no heading off at the pass - the balanced bureaucrat solves problems in the present - rules are for predictable situations but to be dropped in the moment when they do not apply. However the left hemisphere wants linear direction and results - shortest term results if possible. Our approach to the future has one foot in the present - working with nature (which is balance) and free will as we look to the future which is empty and full of potential that often disagrees with the habits ideas and fashions and forms of the past - Signal replaces noise in emptyness and kindredness may arise there - then action may have a new and mysterious effectiveness
