MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

In 2021 is it not time for HUMANITY RISING to be more inclusive and move beyond the Judea Christian perspective of the world. There are living cities that have been in continuous occupation in parts of South America and what is now known as the Indian Subcontinent. It is time western historians changed the lenses through which the light is shined on the rest of the world which is also part of Humanity.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

Beth: Contemplate these dynamic evolutionary places/systems to best serve mutually Humans & Places, Marilyn hiving bees model, Beth nesting humans model , worm role: Soul of the Soil, connected to bees, birds, soil on which each of our communities/cities sit, individual to planetary, all scales count,

Richard Page to Panelists and Attendees (11:21 AM)

The sun is bright in the SF Bay Area - indigenous  OHlone territory - a city surrounding a living dynamic body of water.  In India - every Yantra or sacred mandala has a bindi or body of water at its center. which is considered a generative center for all life which emanates and unfolds from it. Grateful for this symposium - Paloma Pavel (Breakthrough Communities and Earth House Center) and Carl C. Anthony (architect and Urban strategist)

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (11:34 AM)

Yes !! Let's grow all together !!!

Keren Tang / Edmonton to Panelists and Attendees (11:34 AM)

@Karen Ball - thanks for the question. Participatory City is not quite participatory budgeting - it’s more about neighbours working side by side on everyday, practical projects that builds mutual agency for each other, the community, and the planet. You can learn more here: https://www.participatorycanada.ca/

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:36 AM)

thank you Keren, your work is interesting to me. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)

Beth: imagine the stuff that you do for the world (paid/unpaid) shaping our worlds, Xchanging our contributions, Teaching, activating, spiritual guidance >>>All contribution we see and Xperience tension and that we can help to improve and pulls on us to act in evolutionary impulses, must Xcercise mutual trust that that which I do not do, others will pick up, physical habitat we make only as good/crappy as we designed it for a reflection of our values, reshaping our cities/communities, social habitat in the center, if not in tune with selves then not in tune with nature/each other

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (11:38 AM)

Missing Hugo are we not going to be seeing the vortex today?

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:38 AM)

hello beautiful people!

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)

Woooow Marilyn !!! Very strong !!!

Thank you

thank you Marilyn for a beautiful tone,

a  meeting with our Food Policy Council, a potluck to talk about past and future of food in our town…

Marilyn: trust others doing different things, First time visitors…?

Hugo is not with us live today, but he’ll be back tomorrow :) (The live vortexing…)

Yes, I am missing Hugo….imaging is important for me.

Julian: places of connection, Berlin gatherings safe for LGBTQ suspending usual patterns of shame/Xclusion, unity Xperiences are made, Xpressing shamelessly on dance floor, substance Exploration, consent, inclusivity, empowering mutual agency, global reference place for these Islands of common/Noise/Rhythm, similar potential quality,

I was in the city of Torrevieja (close to the sea) in Spain inside of a cozy warm room where I was laughing with the companions at the Pilares' class !!! I felt very independent and united at the same time !!!

thank you Julian!

when I was a white lady stranger homeopath volunteer walking through the bush in rural Malawi, the children hid from me, but grinned and called out from their hiding places “Mzungu, Mzungu” ( stranger to here) . one day later, on the same track, a woman was sweeping their dirt yard, shooing chickens. she smiled, greeted me, and invited me into the yard, and then (using smiling eyes and hand gestures) wanted me to share their breakfast little food. the children came shyly and wanted to touch my hair and skin, shyly, carefully. I felt a welcome I have never experienced before or since. I can barely keep from crying (which I held back then, so as not to alarm them) now as I share this.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:46 AM)

Taisa: event in Rio, together with neighborhood cocreating future steps, invited nearby communities with 200 people of Santa Teresa, public space, sharing their work, knowledge, dancing together, potential of the neighborhood, diversity in city, stronger if decided to do it together, Marilyn: Dare to call differences together

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

thank you Ruthe! magical!

Crystal Steinberg to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

Blue Christmas with participants who had lost loved ones through the year and would not celebrate the holidays in the same way.  Shared stories, hung ornaments with names of loved ones in remembrance, anointed with Frankincence.  Could literally see the ancestors and guides with those grieving . . . so beautiful in such a different way . . .

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

Beautiful story about the White woman in the Malawi community !!! Thanks

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

being testy is so touching and welcome, sister

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)

I am  so sorry, Yene. Thank you for telling this to us.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Yene: Happy/sad, good memory of Ethiopia in rainy season to pastry shop> safety/community 30 sq kilometers, even if people were to known, coexisted together, scent in the shop modest, buy, return home, cities have souls and personalities, recent years in Africa with modernity/development, cutting down 400 year old trees, making 6 lane highways for development, building high rises not finished/occupied, city becomes disfigured, not safe/connected in same ways, many African cities, are in this, when is this enough? consciousness or contracts to developers, beautiful memories and sense of desolation, what else will come in the future? Where is the soul? Has it already gone?

Jen Forti to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Beautiful and so heart felt Yene

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Marilyn: city connection to nature, deep soulful questions

Jane Norton to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Yene, thank you for your vulnerability in sharing your pan about hat you are observing.

Beth Sanders (she/her) | Edmonton to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)

Agency: action or intervention to produce a particular effect

Sharon Truax to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)

to yene, your feelings are heart felt.  they have been my thoughts of Seattle as well.

Beth Sanders (she/her) | Edmonton to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

Agency: exercising self-responsibility

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

Its obvious the rest of the world is copying the American Model and definition of how cities should be built. So if America changes its paradigm the rest of the world will follow. Or the rest of the world should just wake up and realse that these ideas and models of cities are not dreams but nightmares and are unsustainable for the good of the whole.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

Karen: Stillness/silence, thinking about voice/agency giving voice to each other, think of a time mutually connected to each other, helped with an event bringing different people/communities of color, indigenous, radicalized for dialogue, conversation, food/music, African/Carribean descent and indigenous heard stories of each other for the first time, facilitated time> chatter, age/gender/color, stories of Edmontonians of her city

Kurt Krueger to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

FUN Cultural Transformative Annual Event:

Music, Art, Food, and Play attract ALL people to come together. How may we have peace and plenty for all?  Here is a practical and fun way to start solving these issues… Check out the entire vision: www.theWorldFestOrganization.org

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

Yene, I see you. thank you for sharing the pain of “destroyer culture” ... we must act to change this trajectory, especially in African cities and bush, the deforestation is especially sad. thank you trees.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

Marilyn: voice matters, bring diversity of voices/faces longing to gather in places where we can be with each other to touch, FIndhorn to sing community choirs, simple/important

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

Rene - I feel you pain and fear. You are in my thoughts. I too, hold Africa in my heart with both fear and wonder as I watch the treasures that are there fall under siege by western capitalism. How to stand as a wall of protection?

Karen Ball to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

I agree Malini.

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

I agree also Malini.

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

don’t see what Malini said.... ?

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

Paddy: Singing together, voice, song, muffling behind our masks, moving inwards, a good thing, first day total lockdown, close to mountain, wake up and walk out without birds/cars/people>>>SILENT! not used to it in the city, disturbing, longing for the deep silence away from hustle/bustle, increasing sounds returned, breath/laugh of the city changes, suddenly within the walls of our parameters, enforced curfews, black people not allowed to go out at night, whites were able to in her childhood, shifting in new way, allowed to go out for an hour Xcercise, no cars, children/familes together in new ways, city has adjusted in communing with each other, some things are missed/others lets not return to, what is going to be created? Local bakery to smell the bread? Families walking in the streets? reframing development?

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

Give voice to the silence, silent and silenced !!!

Beautiful Paddy !!!

When and where is that, Andrés ? Sorry that I didn't get it.

Jen Forti to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

Wow, weapons of mass distraction, brilliant Andres!

Sharon Truax to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

to paddy, the stillness was glorious.  so much good has come, as well as an aggressiveness on the roadways.

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

Andres: remembered a masked party, how easy it is for us to interact with each other, because we do not know each other, spontaneous interactions, June 21 Music Festival solstice, diversity in musical instruments/outfits, invited to play in the streets, new interactions, public music, earbuds, weapons of massive distraction, in lockdown, do we make an Xtra habit in our habits to interact with people (Same thing with skiers on the slopes) Connecting!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

Soni: Gaia is Shakti She’s Hindu, Durga Puja, in Calcutta in community hall very basic western 7 days transformed into the rise of the feminine in all her glory, in indigenous ceremony sweat/feat spiritual high similar, sacred, private with certain people invited, protected space for them, in the city, to YOGA, white skinny bodies appropriation of Shakti appropriation, someone wearing indigenous symbolism hurts soul/heart, to restore dead spirit in nature, but without that understanding>>>Metabolic drift

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

For me CURIOSITY is not lost in the people here and all the conscious people of the world 5% of the population.  What I'm talking is that the FLAT LANDof the rest of the people have their curiosity lost inside of a Deep sack of the nice and needed things to transform!!!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Raquel - AH!

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

Kiss Kathyrn!!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

Indra: strange to hear referencing to the world I come from immersed in hugely diverse set of reflections, what does it mean for us to come together? descriptions of safe spaces-sharing spiritual readiness to come together, Julian Berlin Club scene, microsolidarities, people of like minds open to each other to share hopes/dreams/ deep authentic selves, OTHERS-need for safety, not an ease with each other, need for a container, rules need to be set, allowing people to trust each others, OTHERS< Come together under a challenge or question> new awareness waking upends in our gathering spaces, truly deeply understand the terms on which we gather, different requirements, coming together might mean into a city a huge challenge, at the beginning we spoke about the need and improtance of seeing ourselves as nature/city, so many living in cities without thinking about or being in nature, Xists outside of daily lives/visit on a holiday, news narratives, division is growing> enviro needs urgently becoming politicized/div

Ann Waters Waters to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

being in nature is essential to our human spirit

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

We ARE nature - getting in touch  with our purpose within it is essential. ;)

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

We really need to REGENERATE the great IDEA and experience of the ASSEMBLY !!!

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

I’m thinking of the Incan cities constructed in the design of a cougar, or other being.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:11 PM)

Raquel - For me, curiosity is the driving force of everything... It may be all that God needed to create. Once curiosity is incorporated in the universe, I believe that everything else follows from that.

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:11 PM)

Perhaps a crucible for alchemy?

Karen Ball to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)

The system of power over is broken

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Surely Stanley. CURIOSITY is the central point and experience of the EVOLUTIONARY IMPULSE, and that's why I agree with what you say and said, that is what I see unfortunately lost in the general population as an unconscious iloness !!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

base all on a common need - food!!

Kurt Krueger to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

YES !!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Indra: Social division news media/party political systems> tribes of people working within a power system that requires us to be in opposition to each other>>>moving in the streets of cities looking at each other as the other WORSE the enemy, How do we live together in this complex dynamic in a city? Neighborhoods share sense of belonging? people divided against each other, city becomes a cricible for division/separation/disconnection?coming together in great diversity, If politics is broken, what is the alternative? global terms, now real belonging in a nation (WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER!) national identity does not Exist, free floating identity, Buddhist, first 10 years of 21st Century, what ever the people are seeking good life/healthy planet/be together> reality is we can be sabotages by others who are manipulated/motivated to be constantly in opposition, reflect needs of our cities for residents to live together> CITIZENS ACTION NATEWORK: conversations with each other, rather looking into the future cocreat

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

citizens action network =  CAN

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (12:20 PM)

for those displaced into big cities, their home VILLAGE is the island of belonging, solace, nurture

Sharon Truax to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)

my daily workspace, meeting people over international Artisanal foods.  we are an island of diversity coming together to listen and experience.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)

Friendliest islands are created around food and celebration (mostly both!) - let us gather in the gardens we create and care about each other and the Nature that creates and feeds us

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)

Karen: resonating about stories, islands about shared stories, listen to each others’ stories, so many are silenced, hard to form islands, across the ocean islands are physical distance, hear each other out, everyday work, virtual relations safe to connect and lean on,

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

I always interact with the girl at the supermarket behind the cashier !!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

Andres: Xplain people already in relationship why they are troubled in understanding each other? What can we do in our daily lives to come into relationships with people across our divides, reducing the distractions, out of comfort zones to simply listen (GREAT MOMENT TO HAVE ZOOM TO CONNECT US GLOBALLY!) connected and remember people

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

Crystal Steinberg to Panelists and Attendees (12:25 PM)

When we hear the points about cultural appropriation shared, we need to stop, listen, honor and change asking ourselves how we will address the concerns.  If we do not we strand people on islands rather than creating islands of relationship . . .

RUthe Schoder-Ehri,Squaxin land to Panelists and Attendees (12:25 PM)

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)

we are growing and changing from the need to conquer to curiosity about how we help each other to reach the goal - let us re-member the Garden

Doreen Tanenbaum to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)

Yes we all need to look and reshape our democracy thank you Jim!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)

Jim: vigorous/dimensionalized discussion, virtue in doing mutual days> deepened dialogue, ecology of speakers gathered deeply in conversation building since Monday, issue of tension/struggle/strife/irritant in oyster, Sophacles: “TO ACT IS TO SUFFER.” creating dynamic strife with action, underscores the importance in cities in governance generally Democracy, how do we deal with conflict/strife? “The Tribe: Tribes are around a watering hole, then marauding warriors arrives to steal the water, how do we settle disputes (BETTER HOW DO MULTINATION CORPS TAKE RESOURCES USING INTERNATIONAL LAWS?) under 4 years of Trump have been stressful and violent, 2nd IMPEACHMENT of President is a test of our capacity to adjudicate struggle without violence, cities moving into the future with chaos, uncertainties before us (NYC residents who could left from COVID to place like Florida and smaller mountain communities) Cities are the fulcrum worldwide.

Crystal Steinberg to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)

Raquel:  thank you for reminding us of the both/and, but I am concerned that cultural appropriation has been an issue for centuries and it leaves those who need to keep re-minding us of our actions outside of islands of relationship, don’t we want everyone to be able to be in relationship rather than feeling outside because we cannot/will not change?

Raquel Torrent to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)

Kiss Crystal !!! I really have to go now :-) Love to ALL !!!

Kat Haber to Panelists and Attendees (12:38 PM)
