Medical Systems Practiced In India

In Sanskrit the word Ayush is also used to denote: Age, Man (mankind) , Long lived, One with long life, Duration of life, Long Life, One who is blessed to live long.

Based on the concept of Long life the Government of India set up the ministry of AYUSH,

AYUSH is the acronym of the medical systems that are being practiced in India such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. These systems are based on definite medical philosophies and represent a way of healthy living with established concepts on prevention of diseases and promotion of health.

The AYUSH Ministry and expert committees from renowned AYUSH Institutions has developed this protocol, called the National Clinical Management Protocol based on Ayurveda and Yoga for management of COVID-19.

Ministry’s advisories have suggested measures which may help the public to remain healthy in pandemic times. The Ministry also published guidelines for practitioners for the management of this pandemic.

This protocol focuses on the management of individuals having mild symptoms of COVID-19.

Individuals having moderate or severe symptoms are advised to go for informed treatment options. Ayurveda and Yoga play a key role to boost immunity as per the mentioned guidelines shared by Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

The current comprehension of COVID-19 indicates that it is crucial to have a solid immune system for both prevention and safeguard from disease progression.
